As homes age, they shift and
settle, sometimes throwing off windows so they're no longer square. Even
the windows inside new homes may not be perfectly proportioned. For these
reasons, it's important to precisely measure the dimensions of a window.

|
- Measure the outside of
each window thoroughly—horizontally at the top, center and bottom
and vertically along both sides and at the center (always measure
with a hard-edged ruler or steel tape—never a cloth tape).
- If a window isn't
square, use the larger measurement.
- Make sure your window
is level, or the unit may slant to one side.
- Traditional/Convex
Awnings: The width should be at least 2
inches wider than the window.
The recommended drop is 1/3 of the total vertical height of
your window. The
recommended projection is the same as the drop.
- Concave
Awnings: The width should be at least 2
inches wider than the window.
The recommended drop is 1/3 of the total vertical height of
your window. The
recommended projection is the same as the drop.
- Dome
Awnings: The width should be at least 2
inches wider than the window.
The recommended drop and projection is ½ the width
measurement.

|
- Rope Pull
Shades: The width you give us will be
the total measurement of the fabric. The drop should be the height of
your window.
- Retractable
Solar Screens: Add 3" to the width of your
window frame. Add 4"
to the drop because the cassette is 4" tall.
- Retractable
Awnings: The width and the projection of
the awning should be ordered in inches not feet.

We will add a ½"
to your measurements for ease in putting on and taking off. We will subtract 2" from the height
because our covers finish 2" from the ground. If you want to change this standard for
your cover, please let us know.
